GuideHow to share a Gemini chat with a public link
Gemini can turn any saved chat into a public link in two clicks. Before you paste it anywhere, it helps to know what the link shows, who can continue the chat, and how to take it down again.
Quick answer: open the chat at gemini.google.com, click the Share icon under a response and choose Share conversation. Gemini copies a g.co/gemini/share/… link you can paste anywhere. To remove it later, go to Settings & help → Your public links and click Delete public link.
These steps were checked against Google's Gemini Apps Help on 30 October 2026 and describe the web version on a computer. Menu names may change; they are correct as of October 2026. For sharing chats from ChatGPT and Claude as well, see our guide to sharing AI chats.
Create a public link to a chat
- Sign in at gemini.google.com. Sharing only works when you're signed in.
- Open the chat you want to share from your recent chats.
- Under any response, click the Share icon, then Share conversation.
- The link is copied for you straight away. Paste it into an email, a message or a forum post.
- Or pick one of the social platforms shown at the bottom of the dialog and follow its prompts.
If the chat used a Gem, you get a choice: Share conversation leaves the Gem's instructions out, while Share conversation and Gem instructions adds them. The Gem's name is shown either way.
What the link includes
- The whole conversation. You can't pick individual messages.
- What Gemini made in the chat, such as Canvas documents, images and videos.
- Images you uploaded. People with the link can view and download them, so check for anything private first.
- Not your identity. Your name and account aren't attached to the page or the URL.
The shared page is frozen at the moment you made it. Anything you add to the chat afterwards, or edit, won't appear.
Who can see it and what they can do
Treat the link as public. Anyone who has it can read the chat, even if you never sent it to them, and they can pass it on. People who open it can also continue the conversation in their own Gemini, where it's saved to their activity if their Keep Activity setting is on. Two exceptions, according to Google: chats made with a Gem can't be continued, and people under 18 can't continue shared chats. If you had a Google AI subscription when you made the chat, the other person needs one too to continue it.
Find, reshare or delete your links
- In Gemini, open Settings & help and choose Your public links (the page is also at gemini.google.com/sharing).
- To remove one link, click Delete public link next to it.
- To remove all of them at once, click Delete all links.
To share an existing link again, open it and click Copy public link near the top of the page.
Deleting a link means visitors see a message that the chat no longer exists. It does not delete the chat from your Gemini Apps Activity, posts where you pasted the link on other sites, or copies people saved after continuing your chat.
Good to know
- Links depend on your activity. A link stays live only while its chat is saved in your Gemini Apps Activity. If you delete the chat, or any part of it, or auto-delete removes it, the link is deleted too. See how to delete Gemini activity.
- Work and school accounts: your Google Workspace administrator decides whether sharing is allowed at all.
- Reporting: if someone shares a Gemini chat that breaks the rules, open it and click Report below the headline.
- A link is not a backup. To keep your own copy of chats, use the methods in our Gemini export guide.
If it doesn't work
- There's no Share option. On a work or school account, your organization has probably turned sharing off. Ask your administrator. On a personal account, check that you're signed in.
- The link says the chat no longer exists. The link was deleted, or the chat was removed from your activity (for example by auto-delete). Create a new link from the chat if you still have it.
- The recipient sees an old version. Links are snapshots. Share the chat again to create a link with the latest messages.
- Someone can't continue the chat. It may have been made with a Gem, they may be under 18, or the chat may need a Google AI subscription they don't have.
Turn a shared chat into a to-do list
A long Gemini chat often hides decisions and next steps. The free Workbranch chat organizer takes the share link and sorts the chat into topics with tasks, decisions, open questions and ideas, with no account needed (results are deleted after 24 hours).

Frequently asked questions
Does the link show my name or email?
No. Google's help says your name and account aren't added to the link or to the shared page, though anything you typed in the chat itself is visible.
If I keep chatting, does the shared page update?
No. The page is a snapshot of the chat at the moment you created the link. To share the newer part, create a new link.
Can I share only one answer instead of the whole chat?
Not with a public link: it always covers the whole conversation. To pass on a single answer, copy it, or use the export options covered in our guide to exporting Gemini chats.
