ChatGPT appWorkbranch for ChatGPT
Save the tasks, decisions, open questions and ideas from your ChatGPT conversations into Workbranch, filed into projects and folders with dates. Ask ChatGPT what's still open the next time you sit down to work.
What it does
- Save a conversation: say "save this to Workbranch". ChatGPT splits the conversation into topics, and each becomes a short chat in your project: a summary, then the tasks, decisions, questions only you can answer and ideas for later, each in a folder and on the day it was discussed.
- See what's open: ask "what's open on my Workbranch project?" for anything overdue, what's due today and questions waiting on you.
- Update from the chat: "mark the launch email done", "move it to Friday", "we decided to go with the yearly plan". Workbranch updates at once, and the next time ChatGPT checks it sees what you changed in Workbranch too.
- Saving again adds only what's new, so you can save a long conversation as it goes on.
Set it up in ChatGPT
Until Workbranch is listed in ChatGPT's app directory, add it as a custom app (as of October 2026; custom apps depend on your ChatGPT plan and, for work accounts, on your admin):
- In ChatGPT on the web, open Settings → Apps and turn on Developer mode under Advanced settings if your account shows it.
- Add a custom app (or custom MCP server). Name it
Workbranchand enter the URLhttps://mcp.workbranch.ai/mcp, with OAuth as the authentication. - Connect it. Workbranch opens: sign in, check what ChatGPT will be able to do, and click Allow.
- In a chat, say "save this to Workbranch" or "what's open in Workbranch?".
ChatGPT can ask you to confirm before it saves or changes anything in Workbranch.

What Workbranch stores
Only what ChatGPT saves at your request: a short summary and the items (tasks, decisions, questions, ideas, owners, dates and folder names). Workbranch never receives the whole conversation. Connection tokens are stored only as one-way hashes. Read the privacy policy and the terms.
Requirements
- A Workbranch account with the plan or its 3-day free trial. New accounts sign up and start the trial during their first connect, then come straight back to Allow.
- A ChatGPT account that can use the Workbranch app: from the app directory once it's listed, or as a custom app until then.
Disconnect
In Workbranch, open the account menu, choose Connected apps and click Disconnect. ChatGPT loses access at once. You can also remove the app in ChatGPT's settings.

Frequently asked questions
Does saving use my Workbranch credits?
No. ChatGPT does the reading and sorting; Workbranch only stores what it saves. Credits are used only when you chat with Workbranch's own AI.
Can ChatGPT delete anything in my Workbranch?
No. The app can list, read, save and update items (mark done, change a date, record a decision), but it has no way to delete anything.
Is Workbranch in ChatGPT's app directory?
It has been submitted for review. Until it's listed, you can add it yourself as a custom app with the steps on this page, where your ChatGPT plan and workspace settings allow custom apps.
